If a friend has ever asked you how to get started in ham radio, here is an easy answer: the Alexandria Radio Club (W4HFH) has opened registration for its Spring 2027 FCC License School. The class is free, and it meets on Zoom on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, starting March 2, 2027.
The course wraps up with the FCC exam at the final session on May 4, 2027. The only cost is the $15 ARRL exam fee, paid by check or cash that night. I love it when a club makes the first step this simple, and signing up early gives you plenty of time to plan.
While you wait, you can listen in on the club’s Thursday night net at 8:00 PM on the 147.315 MHz repeater (107.2 tone). Registration details are on the club’s website.
