New Ham Satellites from Transporter-18 Start Coming Online

Several new amateur radio satellites are in orbit after SpaceX’s Transporter-18 rideshare lifted off from Vandenberg on October 1. AMSAT groups in Germany, Spain and Nepal built six of them, part of at least nine IARU-coordinated ham satellites on the flight. So far only AMSAT-DL’s three tiny ERMINAZ-2 PocketQubes have been heard, with first signals reported October 5 on 435.900, 145.920 and 145.960 MHz.

More should wake up over the coming weeks, including Spain’s UNNE-1B FM repeater (145.925 MHz up, 436.888 MHz down), HADES-L with a 10-meter uplink, and Nepal’s SanoSat-2 with a camera and a store-and-forward repeater. Listeners can send reception reports to SatNOGS.
