New Gear: Kenwood TM-D750 Dual-Band APRS and D-STAR Mobile

Kenwood has a new mobile rig out, and it is one I have been hoping to see. On July 30, JVCKenwood announced the TM-D750S and TM-D750, a 2 m/70 cm dual-band mobile that brings APRS and D-STAR together in one radio. Sales in Japan were set to start in late August, and a European version, the TM-D750E, is now listed by dealers as well.

The feature that caught my eye is the new D-STAR Direct Mode: the built-in Wi-Fi lets the radio reach repeaters and reflectors over the internet without a separate hotspot. It also packs a GNSS receiver (GPS, Galileo and QZSS), Bluetooth, USB-C, a 3.45-inch color screen with waterfall-style scanning, a detachable control head, and APRS that can work as a standalone digipeater.

I have not seen U.S. pricing yet, but if you run APRS in the car, this one is worth watching.
