HAARP, the big ionospheric research transmitter near Gakona, Alaska, is running a campaign October 20 to 24 to support two sounding rocket missions from Poker Flat Research Range near Fairbanks. INFUSE-II will test a new ultraviolet imager for future space telescopes, and DUST-III will study how tiny space dust grains form and grow. Planned operating time is 0530 to 0930 UTC each day (1:30 to 5:30 AM Eastern), somewhere between 2.8 and 10 MHz, though days and times depend on conditions and may change.

For hams, it makes a fun early-morning listening challenge. If you hear HAARP, send a reception report through its online form, and you can watch the launches on the Poker Flat livestream.
