If you’re in Prince George’s or Howard County, here’s an easy way to meet some friendly local hams. The Laurel Amateur Radio Club holds its business meetings on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 7:30 PM at the club’s home at 384 Main Street in Laurel. That makes tomorrow, Wednesday, October 28, the last one of the year, because the club takes November and December off from business meetings.
What I like most is how welcoming they are: their site says you don’t need to be a member or even a ham to attend. If you’d rather start on the air, their club net meets on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Wednesdays at 8:30 PM on the WB3GXW repeater (147.225+, PL 156.7), and it’s open to all hams. There’s also a casual social get-together on the second Wednesday.
